Also see our blog: Chiseled in Stone. Underwater Copper Culture Site A scuba diver wrote Gavin Menzies for assistance with underwater stone structures he found near Lake Superior. Gavin's assistant Ian Hudson wrote Jim Leslie of MES. He consulted Wayne May of the Ancient American magazine who has a special interest in the Upper Michigan Copper Culture. The result is the first in a series published in the Ancient American Vol. 16 No. 94 issue. The site is pristine and the discoverer has chosen anonymity. Here are a few photographs. Kanopolis Inscription Wayne and Crystal Trickle reported this find of a Chi - Rho petroglyph on Jan 1, 2008. These are the two Greek letters Chi χ and Rho ρ combined into one symbol, meaning Christos or Christ, and among several purposes once used as a secret recognition sign among early Christians during the time of persecution . From Dr J Huston McCulloch: "Could be Spanish or French or much older" and notes the moss seems to be about ten years old, but the underlying petina could be much older, if it could be tested. Comments?. Ky Ohio River Bank Inscription These three symbols, a five-pointed star, a triangle and crossed lines, were found by Jim and Shirley Hubler of Battlecreek Kentucky, on a large boulder on the Kentucky side of the Ohio River. The Brandenburg Stone was found within 20 miles, so they sent it to Dana Olson, Jeffersonville Indiana, a Prince Madoc investigator, to see if there was a connection. Since the symbols are not runes like those of the Brandenburg Stone, he forwarded it the the Midwestern Epigraphic Society. Dr John White proclaims the symbols to be female and Earth Mother symbols, but has no further clues. From Jim Leslie, the five-pointed star could be the Egyptian heirglyphics adverb: to adore, as in adoration of a diety. Comments?.   Inscriptions Turkey Mountain, Oklahoma Turkey Mountain is really a hill with sandstone cliffs located close to the Arkansas River and just south and west of the Tulsa metro area and has a number of petroglyphs and inscriptions. Some have been documented in Gloria Farley's In Plain Sight and several in Barry Fell's books. Michael Sulivant of Tulsa has explored Turkey Mountain a number of years and submitted this inscription in December 2007 for possible interpretation. It is pecked into the sandstone and very well done. Michael believes it had to have been seen by Gloria because it is a few feet from other inscriptions she recorded and sent to Fell. Michael assumes Gloria was more interested in the Ogham/Punic inscriptions she knew and possibly ignored the inscriptions she did not recognize. Comments?. Estill Co., Ky Creekbed Inscriptions This inscription from the MES files was reported back in 1987 by Dr John Payne of Berea, Kentucky. He was contacted by a local person (who might know whereabouts of other inscriptions) who found it in a creekbed in the Leighton quadrangle of Estill County. In the photograph the rock is resting against the back of rural mail box, which will give an idea of the rock dimensions. Dr Payne thinks it is probably modern, perhaps a boundary marker or something. He further wrote he could not make out with certainty all the letters, adding his wife saw three Chinese characters - if you want something way out. Payne outlined what he considered to be the characters on a xerox of the photograph, which the Webmaster hopefully copied correctly (but not to scale) as shown in the illustration at the right, adding a boomberang-shaped glyph to the right of the first line he thinks may be another letter not recognized by Payne. And there may be a tilted "U" below the second line of characters. Comments?. Tennessee Spiral Petroglyph This inscription was reported back in 1986 by Betty Sincerbeaux, now deceased, having been found by an aquaintance. The double spiral petroglyph stone was once thought to be standing is now on the ground. The photo was taken by B Bart Henson at Sincerbeaux's request. Comments?. Kentucky 2008 Sites Jack Gay discovered a Jackson County, KY rock shelter 13 years ago containing the following four inscriptions. He reported his find to antiquarian Jim Burchell of Manchester, Ky, who offers some tentative translations. 1. This first example was heavily weathered and is hardly visible today (2008). Burchell was able to copy it and match the glyphs to the Arabic Kufi alphabet illustrated in ESOP issue 21, contained in Barry Fell's article An Ancient Zodiac in Inyo, California. Reading l-r and down-up yields: ALQYM which in Arabic is New Year, Easter 2. Being carved in harder sandstone, this circle-cross and what proved to be an Ruffled Grouse ogamic rebus are in much better condition than the previous. Jim translated the rebus ogam as feathers. 3. Burchell determined these glyphs are Roman characters and translate as 59 A I. Jim knew this had to be a date but could not at first account for the letter I until he realized the I stands for IESUS, another spelling for Jesus. Thus the inscription could be 59 AI (after Jesus) or meaning 59 AD. 4. Burchell could not translate the top inscription line. He thinks the bottom line may be Numidian Tifinag and transliterates as (r-l) W T N W L G but he has no translation. 5. The fifth and last in the series was found in Money Cliff, another nearby rock shelter. During the MES visit in March 2008 the group identified a letter previously unidentified. According to Burchell the script is Germanic rune script, but he has no translation at present. It has every indication as being a name. Comments?. Sunlight Symbols & Treasure Map   My name is Bill Riley and I live in Tuscon. I'm a amateur archaeologist as a hobby and I would like to share with you what I believe to be  discoveries of Sun light made images from rocks manipulated for the construction of these images. These images are only seen at certain times of the day at a certain times of the year. The images are meant to convey a message to the reader in symbolic terms for the location of entrances to vaults and mines.   What I would like for you to do is put me in touch with someone that may be able to help me to unlock the way to view and read these images and unlock the mystery of the system.   The example at left is a horse in harness and is pictured in the photo at the right along with other shadow examples. After I asked Bill if he has found the human-altered stones that are casting the shadows, he replied that "I can follow the secretly marked trails to the sunlight symbol sites which contain stacked symbols or complete numerical signs. It's taken me about seven years to do it though. I believe the language to be relatively a recent activity although the sites can look much older. I believe whomever created them used an antique process to make them look much older. The rock piles that have been alterd to form images are usually laid out by a ground based mapping system before hand to reach the important sunlight symbol. You need to be a tracker to be able to find them. Although I don't consider myself to be a human or animal trail tracker I suppose you could call me a Sun and Shadow symbol tracker." Hello again Jim and everyone else. Here are a few maps used in my research: Petroglyph Treasure Map Jim, An eight year old boy named Jack found a petroglyph Treasure Map to ORO in 1948. Bill Riley rediscovered and deciphered it with Jack's description of the location in 2002-2003. This in turn lead to a Gold Mining claim in 2003. The drilling project for this gold claim is finalizing this year. The drill target was verified by a VLF survey from a Geophysic survey company earlier this spring and Gold is present in the samples taken at the surface of the old back filled Gold mine shaft. The shaft may be back filled and closed to the one-hundred foot level. Core drilling will be done to that level. This type of Gold is in a Breccia Pipe deposit, one of the richest types of free gold deposits in the world and can extend to thousands of feet down. The Gold Mine was hidden with the Infinity systen and was found with the old petroglyph as a map guide. The Gold is in haloed green cracked heavy stone which is called "Green Gold" by the Egyptians Sun Sign Usage Map This is a typical map an sun sign usage and incorporates color, sun, drill holes and a bricked-wall that indicates a hidden vault tunnel nearby. The man holding the goslings or a goose is a caricature of a master mason. He'd made out of the white scale mineral in the gray rock, just like the vague skull above. The Goose is the symbol GEB, the Egyptian God of Agriculture. The Goose is also one of the symbols used for gold. The man running from the beehive is a very Masonic connection. The vault symbol is cut into the rock and is dark in color from the shadow it creates The drill holes give the coordinates to the entrance of the tunnel that will be bricked up a few feet under the dirt and back into the hillside. You insert wooden dowel rods in the holes and extend the lines outward until they cross and thats where you dig. If they point to a hill there will be a lower and upper entrance. These can be well hidden. Riley has seen an entire cart trail to a mine hidden, only visible in places where erosion exposed the road way. Monkey Head Map This is another example of using diffused light and direct sunlight to create signs and can be seen only on a certain date at a certain time. Bill calls this one "Monkey Head Map". This type of map is hard to read, as you must look at all of the factors involved - light, dark, rock shapes, surfaces, raised, lowered, colors, straight and diffused light, upside down mirror images or sideways. Its like reading 10 languages at once. The Peralta Stone Map at left and a drawing of both sides combined at right. More Sites The photo at the left shows cuttings that fill the whole hillside. I suspect a nearby vault or tunnel with a hidden entrance. I scanned this area with a SIR 3000 Ground Penetrating Radar unit I rented and got a weird reading in the middle - some kind of room with a large disk-shaped stone in the center, like a rock plug over a hole. I returned later with a GEM Runabout Geo Magnetic Scanner Unit from Accurate Locators I had purchased and got a totally different reading but still strange. Not shown, but next to this site is the foundation remnants of a small smelter used for processing gold ore. The gray quartz seen in these photos is the same type rock in which large gold veins have been discovered throughout the world. This site could be a vault/storage area or the actual gold mining operation. Under and below this area is a tree with a rough-cut lumber platform nailed with old hand forged square nails that indicates its age. The platform looks more like a lookout stand rather than a hunter's stand, as the tree sits at the bottom of a waterfall in a dry wash. This site has a secret yet to tell. The nearby site shown in the photo at the right is similar to those above, e.g. the Monkey Head Map rock is below the cuttings pile.
